On Sunday 27th March 2011, Maher Ross was delighted to be able to sponsor the last fence of the Ashey Scurry. The jump, known as 'Sophie's Skyline' was the last fence of the Isle of Wight Grand National, the closing race of the day.

The fence has a harsh reputation similar to 'Beechers Brook', (from the mainland version of the Grand National), because whilst only 5' high, it comes at the end of a very tiring race.

This year, the fence provided some terrific entertainment, but only one fall. Whilst pride was a little dented, we are delighted that both rider and horse were only bruised. The horse was clearly in fine form becuase after unseating his rider, he decided to take in some of the local Havenstreet scenery - it took a concerted effort from the marshals and a very helpful local farmer to catch him!
