The Maher Ross Team & Fire Fighters outside the Maher Ross Office

On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th August 2011, fire-fighters based at Ryde Fire Station, shall be carrying a 13.5 metre ladder section from Ryde's Western Gardens, all the way around the Island before returning to Ryde on the Saturday evening to converge with Ryde Main Carnival and finishing on the Esplanade. Funds raised from the event shall be used to assist St Mary's Hospital, Coronary Care Unit, to buy essential life-saving heart disease diagnostic equipment. The funds are being raised in memory of respected colleague Paul Fletcher, who was sadly taken whilst responding to an incident on August 24th 2009 after suffering a fatal heart attack at just 39 years old.

Working in collaboration with the Friends of St Mary's and the D.R. Memorial Fund, the team are aiming to raise a total of at least £30,000 to purchase the vital early warning life-saving equipment, to be based at St Mary's Hospital, Isle of Wight.

Maher Ross will be backing Ryde Fire Stations's ladder carry by being a corporate sponsor for the event. Firefighters visited our office's on Friday 26th March 2011 to collect the fundraising amount and photographs were taken with the staff of Maher Ross.
