Jed, well known for his interest in poultry both within our office and further afield, has achieved another incredible result last week.

Having judged at a show in North Yorkshire last weekend, Jed travelled back to the island, carried out some work in readiness for the Poultry Section that he is organising at this Saturdays Isle of Wight County Show, prepared his three birds before catching the 2:30 ferry to the mainland on Tuesday morning and travelling up to the Cheshire County Show.

Jed said ‘ it was a huge distance to travel, but I had been told on many occasions how impressive the poultry section was, and had recommended the show to Adam Henson, who had mentioned that he was looking for a poultry show that he could attend with his Countryfile film crew when I met him on the island last winter.’

The long journey turned out to be very worthwhile, Jed taking first prize with all three exhibits, before going on to win Champion Goose/Gander, Champion Heavy Duck, Champion Waterfowl and Reserve Overall Show Champion with a Chocolate Magpie Muscovy female.

Jed said that this was one of many prizes that the duck has won for him all over the country, taking Reserve Show Champion on three occasions in Cornwall, Wales & now Cheshire, as well as the prestigious award of Champion Waterfowl at the 2012 National Show. He is now looking forward to seeing if she can carry on her success closer to home at our own County Show on Saturday.

Adam Henson also attended the Cheshire show, both him and his son exhibiting birds, and taking a great interest in the poultry fancy, whilst filming for Countryfile, which is expected to air in 4/5 weeks time.
