Randonee Completed for Cancer Research!

Team Maher Ross (including Chris, Graham, David and Lindy) are delighted to announce that they managed to complete the Isle of Wight Randonee on Sunday 5th May 2013 and raised over £320 towards Cancer Research.

The Isle of Wight Randonee requires cyclists to complete a gruelling 65 mile round the island route, starting at 0900 hrs and taking in some of the Island's largest hills including Niton and Compton 'climbs'.

Chris and Graham had been training quite hard for the event - both finishing soon after 3 in the afternoon. After the event, Chris couldn't wait to get straight back on his bike - and was even starting to miss it during the celebratory post event slap up meal at the Hare and Hounds.  Graham was a bit surprised that he managed to complete the event at all - and they've now both agreed to complete a simlar event for charity in June.

David - who writes and photographs the inventories for Maher Ross, together with his wife Lindy, started the event from Wootton and also completed the event in a pretty good time with no major incidents - well done David and Lindy!

Chris and Graham were accompanied by friends of Maher Ross, Tom Maher, Lofty, Spud, Kev Baker and Edward Jolliffe.

Edward (aged 18) didn't find the event as challenging as his father - having very recently completed a 6000 mile cycle ride to Vietnam for the Retinitis Fighting Blindness Campain.  Edd said - "The challenging bit was trying to keep my dad going - especially when he got hungry about half way around!"
